Hi, my name is Ted Giese and I am associate pastor of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Born in Edmonton, I grew up just outside the city in Stony Plain Alberta were I attended St. Matthew Church and School. In my travels I have lived in Prince George, British Columbia and Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from NSCAD in Halifax and a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from Concordia Lutheran Seminary Edmonton. For eight years (1998 - 2006) I worked at Andy's Valleyview IGA in Edmonton, five of those years as a manager. From 2004 to 2006 I also worked as the night manager at Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton and was sad to leave them, they do such good work for families in need. A couple things about me and my life: I enjoy art and going to galleries, I have a passion for film and enjoy almost all kinds of movies, and like everyone I love visiting with friends. I have one sister, Jennifer, who is married and living in Edmonton with the majority of my family who attend Grace Lutheran Church there. Here at Mount Olive Pastor Defoe and I enjoy teaching the "Pastor's Class" for those interested in joining Mount Olive, or for those who are just curious about Christianity, or looking for a chance to review their beliefs (We try to run two of these a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring.
My work runs the gamut from weddings to funerals to baptisms; I work with the elderly and the youthful, I lead Bible studies and worship, I visit people in their homes, at the seniors homes, and at the hospital; I help people and families with spiritual problems and distress including but not limited to "things that go bump in the night." Regina is a new city to my wife and I, and we look forward to getting to know all of you and thank God for this opportunity to serve Him and you here at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Regina.
